For the first of my plant profiles I chose 'Pyrus calleryana 'Aristocrat'. An ornamental pear tree that has so much to offer from spring blossom to brilliant autumn colour. This tree is quite fast growing and an ideal tree for a town section. I love the way the branches layer making it quite a grand tree. Suitable for use as a specimen tree or street planting this tree is tough and withstands the wind. Pyrus calleryana 'Kea' is very similar and sometimes easier to find. Height approx 6m spread 4m.

Hannah Kidd

I can't wait for the day that I have a piece of Hannah Kidd sculpture in my collection! The Methven based artist uses predominantly steel rod and corrugated iron and investigates people and the relationships they have with their surrounding environment. Animals continue to feature heavily in her work and are frequently used as a vehicle to discuss the human condition.

Sustainability By Design

"In 1992 I became so concerned about products causing environmental damage because of their unsustainable design that I turned my focus to understanding and communicating about solutions to these design issues."
"By creating and publishing environmental art my message of sustainability by design now reaches millions of people each year."

Welcome
Hello all and welcome to the Georgie P Landscape Architecture 'Outside' blog. This is all new to me at this stage so bear with me as I learn the ropes. Over the next few months I hope to create a blog space that provides our clients and friends with inspiration and ideas to take to their gardens and landscapes. Suggestions and ideas from you all will be much appreciated
